Pura Vida is nestled in the mountaintop spanning more than 8 acres of land at 4,900 feet above sea level.  Surrounded by coffee plantations overlooking Costa Rica’s Central Valley, Pura Vida’s climate is Spring-like year-round with warm temperatures during the day and cool mountain air at night. Because of this, air conditioning is not necessary. You will be breathing in the fragrant mountain air during your stay.

Pura Vida offers lush landscape & gardens. Over 1,400 species of orchid grow wild in Costa Rica. The grounds at Pura Vida hold dozens of species of orchids, a beautiful mosaic pool, hot tub, relaxing hammocks and more.

The staff must be mentioned as well because they embody the “Pura Vida” philosophy.  Enjoy the pure simple life with warm personal attention and service with a smile.

The Spa is world renown for the most amazing therapists/healers offering many specialties and modalities that will support you physically, mentally, and spiritually to enhance your retreat experience. Spa treatments are optional.

The Food

Prepared lovingly by the kitchen staff and served buffet style in the inviting dining hall, all meals feature both North American and Costa Rican vegetarian, fish, and chicken dishes to tempt your taste buds, and nourish your body and soul.

You will be impressed by the variety and colors of the local fruit and vegetables beautifully displayed.

They can accommodate most specialty diets with advanced notice (please include this information in your registration form).

In addition the juice bar in the dining hall offers fresh coconuts, delicious smoothies and healthful elixirs for purchase throughout the day. Complimentary tea, coffee, and Alkaline and filtered water are always available, as well as seasonal local fruit.

Side Notes:

Boutique: The boutique has a lovely selection of Costa Rican arts and crafts as well as essential travel items like toiletries, sun block, sunglasses and yoga gear. Open Sunday – Friday 8am – 4pm (closed Saturday).

Laundry: Laundry service is available to guests at a charge of $8 per load to wash, dry, and fold.

Meditation Props: Yoga mats, yoga blankets, blocks, chairs and bolsters are available for use. Although these props should provide a comfortable set-up for your sitting meditations, if you prefer a specific zafu or meditation bench for your practice it is recommended that you bring it.

Tentalow

These hybrid Tent/Bungalows are perfect for nature lovers and provide an eco-chic glamping experience. With all the comforts including the same comfy beds that are in the rooms, a sitting area, space to hang your clothes & electricity, you will enjoy your cozy beautiful space surrounded by lush vegetation. The clean and beautifully appointed shared bathrooms are nearby, complete with private WC rooms and private tropical showers.

A-Frame

With a cozy footprint, the soaring ceilings add spaciousness and light to these cottages. They have private balconies, tranquil coffee plantation views, private bath and coffee maker.

Vista

These rooms feature private balconies, tranquil views, private bath and coffee maker. They are approximately 250 square feet, great for single occupancy, but spacious enough for a comfortable roommate set-up.

Kiva Upper

These mountainside rooms offer plenty of space and comfort and an open floor plan with private balconies overlooking the Central Valley. They have a sitting area, private bath, and coffee maker.

Tri-Level

An open floor plan with three living spaces cascading down from each other defines the Tri-Level.  They have private balconies/patios offering lovely views of tropical gardens and coffee plantations, private baths, and coffee maker.
